• Escort: An adult should stay with you for at least the first 24 hours after surgery.

• You will spend around an hour in the recovery area.

• You will wake up with some gauze under your nose.

• You may feel your nose is blocked.

• You will be advised to rinse the nose with salt water to keep nose humidify not to relieve nose blockage.

• Head position: Rest with your head elevated with at least 2 pillows for the first 2 days.

• Caution: Sit for one minute before standing. Stand slowly to prevent dizziness.

• If dizzy when standing or sitting, lie back down to avoid fainting.

• DO NOT blow or pick the nose.

• Mild pain for a few weeks is common and responds to painkillers.

• Use painkillers the first day, then as needed.

• Contact if you develop severe headaches.

• Most cases: no nasal packing. Rarely used and removed the next day.

• Teflon splint inside the nose removed painlessly after one week.

• Small bandage under the nose removed after first couple days.

• Stay at home and restrict activity for 8 days post-op to avoid infection or air changes.

• Avoid exercise for 2 weeks.

• After 14 days: fast walking; after 21 days: running/weights < 3 kg; after 30 days: full exercise.

• Avoid aspirin/blood thinners for 1 week.

• No alcohol for 1 week. No smoking for 2 weeks.

• Dehydration prevention: hydrate regularly.

• Prevent constipation: fruit, fluids, and avoid straining.

• Mild discharge and temperature may occur.

• Visit ER if you experience: severe headache, nasal bleeding, severe vomiting, or fever > 38.5°C.

• Contact hospital if concerned. Staff will notify clinic to call you back ASAP.
